FAQ's

Who do you assist?
Beneficiaries of our program include low-income families and senior citizens in Cross Lanes, Kelly’s Creek, Tyler Mountain, Rocky Fork, parts of Nitro, and surrounding areas.

How do you determine eligibility?
Eligibility is determined by monthly income and referrals. Many of our applicants suffer from physical, mental, or emotional problems that prevent any kind of regular employment

How many people do you help?
In 2010 we served more than 1,100 unduplicated individuals with their basic needs. Many receive some form of baseline subsidy such as social security disability, food stamps, or child support.

What services do you provide?
We assist with food through our pantry and voucher program. We also help with rent, utility transportation, and prescription payments.

What is the Christmas Basket Program?
In addition to year round services, TMCLCS prepares and delivers Christmas Baskets to approved applicants. Each basket contains everything needed to prepare a holiday meal, including turkey or ham, bacon, eggs, milk, bread, potatoes, apples/oranges as well as canned and boxed food. We also work with Secret Santa to provide toys to children under the age of 13 and TMCLCS provides toys to those who miss the Secret Santa deadline. Our Christmas Basket Program participates with the United Way Christmas Bureau in order to ensure that our services are not duplicated.
